Privacy Notice for Candidates
Last updated: 14 Oct 2026
This notice explains what happens to your personal data when you apply for a role at DataChef through datachef.new — what we collect, why, who sees it, how long we keep it, and what you can ask us to do about it.
Who we are
DataChef is a data and AI engineering consultancy registered in the Netherlands. We are the data controller for the personal data described here.
- Legal entity: DataChef B.V.
- KvK number: 71796371
- Address: Prinses Margrietplantsoen 33, 2595 AM, The Hague, Netherlands
- Contact for privacy questions: [email protected]
This notice covers applying for a role. Our general website privacy policy at datachef.co covers visiting our marketing site and contacting us.
What we collect
- What you give us when you apply: your name, email address, country, LinkedIn profile URL, resume, expected salary where you provide it, and who referred you where that applies.
- What the hiring process produces: your technical assessment results, interview notes and scoring, scheduling details for meetings with us, and our decisions at each stage.
- What we receive about you: feedback from a referrer, and — if you were put forward by a recruitment partner — the details that partner submitted on your behalf.
- Technical data from your visit: analytics about how the site is used, only where you have accepted analytics cookies.
Please do not send us special category data — health, religion, political opinions, and the like. We do not ask for it and we do not need it to assess your application.
Why we use it, and on what legal basis
- To assess your application, run assessments and interviews, and decide whether to make an offer. Legal basis: steps taken at your request before entering a contract, and our legitimate interest in recruiting.
- To contact you about your application and arrange meetings. Legal basis: the same.
- To keep your details on file for future roles after this process ends. Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- To meet our legal obligations and to defend against legal claims. Legal basis: legal obligation and legitimate interest.
We do not make hiring decisions by automated means alone. A person reviews and decides at every stage.
Who sees it
Inside DataChef, your application is seen by the people involved in hiring for the role — the hiring manager, the interviewers, and our recruitment and operations team.
We also use service providers who process your data on our instructions: our applicant tracking and internal workspace tooling, our technical assessment provider, our email, calendaring and meeting tools, our internal messaging tool, and our cloud hosting provider. They may only use your data to provide those services to us.
We do not sell your data and we do not share it with advertisers.
Where it goes
Our hosting is in the European Union. Some of our service providers are based outside the EEA, mainly in the United States. Where data is transferred outside the EEA, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.
How long we keep it
- If we do not hire you: up to 12 months after the process ends, so we can answer questions about the decision — or up to 24 months if you have agreed to us keeping your details for future roles.
- If we hire you: your application becomes part of your employee record and is kept under our employment retention rules.
- Analytics data: as set by our analytics providers, and only collected where you accepted analytics cookies.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or hand it to you in a portable format. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time — that does not affect what we did before you withdrew it.
Email [email protected] and we will respond within one month. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
Cookies
We use cookies that are necessary for the site to work, including keeping you signed in to the candidate portal. We also use analytics cookies to understand how the site is used — those only load if you accept them in the cookie banner.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we handle candidate data, we will update this page and the date at the top.
