The role at a glance
📍 Location
Netherlands (required)
🏢 Working model
Hybrid, 1–2 days on-site
💶 Compensation
As outlined in our salary guideline
Outcomes in your first 3–6 months
- Deliver data products and pipelines that meet team SLAs and quality standards
- Contribute to the legacy migration with minimal disruption
- Build credibility with the client team and help create shared context where it is missing
What you will do
- Build and maintain data pipelines and data products within a value stream team
- Work within a data mesh architecture and contribute to domain data ownership
- Spot what's missing, whether that's a technical gap or missing shared context with the client, and follow through until it's resolved
- Alternate between delivery-focused sprints and alignment-creating phases; both are expected and valued
- Communicate blockers, risks, and technical decisions constructively to DataChef and client stakeholders
What you will bring
- Strong Python: you write clean, maintainable code without prompting
- Strong SQL: you reach for it when it fits the problem
- Hands-on experience with IaC such as Terraform
- Hands-on GCP experience: BigQuery, Dataflow, or comparable managed data services
- Consulting mindset: you simplify complexity, ask the right questions, and diagnose root causes before jumping to solutions
- Comfortable in ambiguity: equally at ease heads-down coding and in alignment conversations
- You get things done; when something needs to ship, it ships
Nice to have
- dbt experience
- Experience with Airflow
- Exposure to data mesh principles or domain-oriented data ownership
- Experience in retail, e-commerce, or consumer goods data environments
Location and working model
You must be based in the Netherlands (no relocation support). Hybrid: typically 1–2 days per week on-site at the client location. Expect more on-site during workshops, go-lives, or high-alignment phases. If being on-site when the project demands it is not something you are willing to do, this role is not a fit. Client communication is in English; strong English proficiency is required.
