What you'll do

  • Work on complex migrations from legacy data warehouses (Teradata, Oracle, on-prem systems) to modern cloud-native platforms on AWS.
  • Design and implement cloud-native data architectures on AWS, leveraging lakehouse and data mesh paradigms where appropriate.
  • Build and maintain data pipelines and ETL processes using AWS services (S3, Lambda, Glue, etc.) in conjunction with cloud data warehouses like Snowflake and Databricks.
  • Collaborate with client teams to understand their data landscape and translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Ensure data quality, security, and compliance throughout migration and implementation processes.
  • Together with a few other chefs, you’ll help our clients to build and productionize products. As an autonomous stream-aligned team, you might deal with a wide spectrum of Data, Cloud Infrastructure and DevOps-related problems.
  • Your default will be delivering a timely and tangible output. Simple, interpretable, impactful, and straightforward workflows are your main weapons. That however doesn’t hinder you from using complex tools when the situation demands it.
  • You’ll help with interviewing and selecting future chefs. We’ll train you on how to conduct effective, chef-style interviews!
  • Actively share knowledge with your team and learn from their expertise in return.

What you'll bring

  • Deep hands-on experience with core AWS services, especially those at the intersection of data engineering:
    • S3, data lake architectures
    • EC2, Lambda, containerization (ECS/EKS)
    • VPCs, subnets, security groups, routing. You don't need to be a networking specialist, but you understand how services communicate securely
    • AWS Glue, EMR, or similar data processing services
  • You've built production-grade data pipelines and understand the full lifecycle from ingestion to consumption.
  • Proven track record migrating from legacy data warehouses (Teradata, Oracle, on-prem systems) to cloud platforms.
  • Understanding of lakehouse and data mesh paradigms, and when to apply them.
  • Hands-on experience with Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, or similar platforms. Strong Snowflake experience is a significant advantage.
  • At least 5+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Motivated by client problems, and find joy in creating simple, elegant solutions that avoid unnecessary complexity.
  • Moving off any solution before asking questions, listening actively, exploring the context, and simply building trust with clients.
  • Passion for simplifying and clearly explaining complex topics in person and in writing.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.

We'd love you to have (extra nice)

  • Deep Snowflake expertise: architecture design, performance optimization, security best practices, cost management—this is a big bonus.
  • Fluency in Dutch, as it can help with client communication.
  • Experience with data governance frameworks and compliance requirements in regulated industries (banking, finance).
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Previous consulting or client-facing experience.
